Set in Chihuaha state, Mexico, in a community of Mennonites, Johan is married to Esther and has seven sons with her. But he has been having a passionate love affair with Marianne for 2 years. Deciding between two lives, and between two women is impossible. He opens his heart to his friend, Zacaris and to his father, a preacher, who sees it as the devil’s work. Nevertheless, both of them support him, pity him and envy him.
